Mumbai crime branch arrested Hothit Movies team in Mumbai

MUMBAI: Mumbai crime branch on Thursday raided a bungalow in Madh Island in Malad and busted a live porn video film making racket and rescued one woman. The property cell of city crime branch has arrested five persons of a production house including two women-a photographer and graphic designer who were video recording a live porn in a private bungalow in Madh Island.
Sources said that this could be just tip off the iceberg as most of the private bungalows and shacks in Madh Islands are indulging in prostitution and porn film making under the name of film shooting.
What has baffled the police is the fact that two women were also part of the porn film making gang that has been exploiting the young girls under pretext of giving them a break in the film industry. Police said that the modus operandi of this production house was to lure young girls promising them a break in the film industry and forced them into this porn movies racket.
Police on Thursday raided Green Park Bungalow at old Ferry marg and caught the entire team when the shoot for the porn movie was live. Police have rescued a 25-year-old victim woman and have sent her for rehabilitation.
The police arrested the five accused under various IPC sections of cheating, indulging in obscene act in public place and publicly exhibiting or circulating obscene book or literature and under the Information Technology Act. Police have also freezed a bank account of this production house which has a balance of Rs 36.50 lakhs which have been generated from the subscriptions of porn apps where the accused used to download the videos.
Police have seized a high-definition DVR video camera, six mobile phones, laptop, spotlight, camera stand, memory card containing several video clips and dialogue/script said Prakash Jadhav, deputy commissioner of police.
``We had received information that a gang was giving advertisements for fresh faces and under the pretext of giving them a role in movies, they used to first take them to these bungalows and make them do odd scenes and then lured them with handsome money make them sign agreements and then forced them to act in this porn movies.’’ Said Kedari Pawar, senior Inspector of property cell.
Investigating officer Laxmikant Salunke said that the accused would pay a meagre amount anywhere ranging from Rs 5,000 to 15,000 and then they would upload this video clips on the particular apps and other social media which would generate huge money to the gang. One of such app is Hothit Movies. Going through their WhatsApp chats, bank transactions it appears that the gang has been indulging in this act for past one and half years and may have duped several innocent poor victims who are not complaining for the fear of stigma said Inspector Dheeraj Kohli
